About AWAGAM TLD and Domain Blocker
AWAGAM blocks access to top-level domains and domains at the DNS level, using blocklists you configure yourself.
It runs a local VPN that intercepts DNS queries. Blocked lookups resolve to 0.0.0.0; everything else is forwarded to the DNS-over-HTTPS resolver of your choice, or to a local resolver like InviZible Pro’s DNSCrypt. Your ordinary Internet traffic is never routed through the VPN.
The app ships with no blocking rules of its own. What gets blocked is entirely up to you.
Features:
* Block TLDs and domains at the DNS level
* DNS-over-HTTPS upstream (DNS4EU, Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, OpenDNS, AdGuard), or a local resolver on the device
* Add, edit, and manage as many blocklist URLs as you like
* Compatible with the AWAGAM browser extension blocklist format, including bundles
* Temporarily disable protection (5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour) with automatic restart
* DNS query statistics: queries, blocked requests, cache performance
* Export your configuration to Pi-hole, AdGuard Home, or hosts format
* Background blocklist updates every 6 hours
* Watchdog that restarts filtering if the system stops it
* Auto-start on boot
Privacy:
AWAGAM collects no personal data. All processing happens on your device. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no DNS query logging. The only network connections are DNS queries to the upstream resolver you select and blocklist fetches from URLs you configure.
The app opts out of Android backup and device-to-device transfer, so your blocklist subscriptions are never copied into your Google account. Use the export function to move your configuration yourself.
Limitations:
* DNS sees domain names, not full URLs, so URL-level blocking is not possible. Use the browser extension for that.
* Android permits one VPN at a time, so AWAGAM cannot run alongside another VPN app.
* Apps that use their own DNS-over-HTTPS resolver bypass system DNS filtering.

| Release notes | A bug-fix release of AWAGAM, a DNS-level TLD and domain blocker for Android. It tightens how blocklist URL entries are checked and fixes how the statistics screen shows rates: • URL entries whose host mixes “*” with non-ASCII characters in one label (like “bü*cher.de/*”) are skipped as invalid, as they can’t match—like in AWAGAM Chromium. • The statistics screen’s progress bars show their full track, so a low rate no longer looks like a missing bar. • Percentages on the statistics screen read correctly on devices set to a language that uses a decimal comma. • Blocklists are loaded once when the app starts, rather than twice. • The statistics screen’s “Refresh” button is gone, as statistics already update every second. Installing Requires Android 9 or newer. Installs from F-Droid update automatically; otherwise, download awagam.apk below and install it over the existing app, which keeps your configuration. Through F-Droid: Add this repository to any F-Droid client, then install AWAGAM from it. https://iadefensa.github.io/awagam-android/fdroid/repo Verifying The APK is signed with this certificate: SHA-256 05:97:AE:6F:8C:8C:E4:E5:AE:28:9E:03:48:D1:A0:3D:5B:82:78:93:00:BC:E0:BD:94:50:68:09:9C:3D:51:05 Check a download against it with apksigner verify --print-certs awagam.apk, and against SHA256SUMS with shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.
