Product Details
SegPlayPC is essentially a fun and simple art toy, and a great addition to your collection of desktop time killers. A digital paint by numbers that initially comes with 20 patterns, including some neat classical art, and is expandable to virtually no limit. The expansion libraries generally add another 20-30 patterns, but run at around $5 dollars each. The advantage here is that the initial cost is negligible and you can pick your add-on libraries based on the styles of patterns that you prefer from the initial download, whether its classical paintings, landscapes, or even modern architecture. This likely reduces the initial cost from what it would be if the entire collection of patterns were available from the start. And of course the patterns are reusable and customizable to your taste.
The SegPlay interface is simple and tasteful to the end it serves. It allows for your basic color selection, texture alterations, and your statistics, letting you know how well you are doing (yes there are some very complex patterns that make it quite difficult!). The greatest function is perhaps the timer, counting down of course, providing a paint-by-numbers-race-against-the-clock. This not only raises the excitement level, but can also make for some serious completion. All and all, SegPlay is a great way to pass the time, fun for anyone really, of any age, with patterns of varying difficulty, and is certainly a great alternative when you inevitably tire of solitaire. And if you have a printer you can hang your final product on the fridge for the whole world to admire - well at least that part of the world that ventures through your kitchen.
Paint-by-numbers, the favorite 1950s pastime, meets modern image-processing programming and the result is paint-by-numbers for the digital generation.
Segmation TM technology, the beauty behind computerized paint-by-numbers, enables designers to dissect images into outlined patterns with customized color palettes. While an online version lets users "paint" images with the mouse, Segmation designers have optimized this concept with SegPlayPC TM, a powerful desktop program for Windows 2000 and XP.
The expandable SegPlayPC includes twenty images, from classics to modern art and photography at various levels of complexity as some can be defined with 2000 segments! Users can explore artwork, play with gaming tools, even watch as the artwork automatically composes itself. With comprehensive features, the program allows standard or full-screen resolutions and provides various work modes. Painters can also zoom, pan, adjust transparency and texture, auto-advance, customize backgrounds, print, and save.
New users can begin painting with SegPlayPC immediately, and simple projects take just four minutes to complete. Relaxing, repetitive, and continuously replayable, SegPlayPC also offers infinite variety, with challenging and addictive gaming options: a timer, mistake counter, speed-painting tools, and element tracking.
Appropriate for all ages, SegPlay is most popular with women who grew up with paint-by-numbers. SegPlay has been available free online for more than five years at Segmation.com, founded by Mark H. Feldman of SegTech in Walnut Creek, California.
Users can download a free, limited program on a ten-day trial. The complete SegPlayPC program costs $24.95(US) and is downloadable at www.segmation.com. For more information, visit SegTech online or email info2@segmation.com.
