About Nikki
Nikki is a native Android client for Memos, the open-source self-hosted note-taking tool. It adds Todoist-style task management on top of your memos, with a Windows Phone Metro-inspired interface.
Tasks are parsed directly from markdown checkboxes in your notes. Write "- [ ] buy milk tomorrow 5pm p1 #shopping" and Nikki extracts the due date, time, priority, and tags -- giving you a structured task view without duplicating data.
Features:
o Full Memos API integration (create, edit, pin, archive, delete)
o Rich markdown rendering with code highlighting, tables, and links
o Server-side link previews for URLs in memos
o Share links for public access to individual memos
o Emoji reactions and comments
o Configurable feed truncation with date gutter layout
o Due dates, times, priorities (p1-p3), reminders, tags
o Group and sort tasks by date, priority, list, or memo
o Filter tasks by source memo
o Color-coded task urgency (overdue, today, priority)
o Android notifications with 4 priority channels
o Calendar integration for reliable reminders
o Offline-first with sync queue
o 3 themes (dark, light, AMOLED) and 20 accent colors
o Activity calendar, tag browser, and search
o Export/import backup as JSON
o Share text from any app into a new memo
Requires a running Memos instance (v0.22+, v0.31 recommended). The name comes from the Japanese word ?? (nikki), meaning diary.

| Release notes | WARNING: This release contains breaking changes. Read the Breaking section below before upgrading. Breaking • Requires Memos 26.10.0+ — REST API paths changed from /api/v1/... to /api/...; pre-26.10.0 servers will stop working Added • Onboarding flow: welcome, permissions, and sign-in screens with back/next navigation • Calendar permission requested during onboarding alongside notifications and battery • Link preview image toggle in settings (off by default, avoids third-party connections) • Per-ABI APK splits — install only the ~1.85 MB relevant to your device Fixed • API compatibility with Memos 26.10.0 (new path prefix, renamed comments response field) • Expired access tokens now trigger re-login instead of silent failure • Link preview caching no longer blocks retries when server URL is not yet loaded • Calendar sync skipped when permission not granted instead of silently failing |
