About OpenVitals
OpenVitals is a private health dashboard for Android. It shows your Health Connect data in one place: activity, sleep, heart, body, vitals, nutrition, hydration, caffeine, mindfulness and, if you want it, cycle tracking.
Your data stays on your phone. There is no account, no cloud sync, no ads and no analytics, and the app has no internet permission. OpenVitals reads Health Connect only after you grant access, and it writes only the entries you save.
What you can do
* See your day on a dashboard you can reorder
* Explore each metric by day, week, month or year, with trends, goals and your personal baseline
* Check Daily Readiness, Body Energy, Training Readiness, stress, HRV status, cardio load and sleep score, each with a plain explanation of how it is worked out
* Log drinks, food, workouts, mindfulness, weight, body fat, blood pressure, blood oxygen, temperature and more, straight into Health Connect
* Follow your caffeine: active amount, daily limit and a bedtime forecast
* Record GPS workouts with live stats, offline maps and Bluetooth heart rate, cadence and power sensors
* Import Apple Health exports and GPX, KML, KMZ, TCX, FIT and CSV files
* Build a PDF health report to share with your doctor
* Track your cycle: periods, symptoms, basal temperature, next-period estimates and pill reminders
* Sync supported Garmin watches directly over Bluetooth
* Copy data between two phones over Bluetooth, with no account and no network
* Earn badges for steps, distance, floors, workouts, hydration, sleep and mindfulness
* Turn on reminders for drinking, mindfulness and your cycle
* Choose metric or imperial units, a light, dark or AMOLED theme, and one of 14 languages
Why OpenVitals
* Private by design: no account, no cloud, no ads, no tracking
* Health Connect stays the source of truth. Only watch measurements and cycle notes that Health Connect cannot store are kept in the app, on your phone
* You choose each permission and can change it later
* Open source: the code, release notes and builds are public
Requirements
OpenVitals needs Health Connect. It is part of Android 14 and newer. On Android 13 and older, install the Health Connect app from Google Play.
Health disclaimer
OpenVitals is for general wellness and information only. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition. | Release notes | Released 2026-11-01. This release keeps the dashboard filling when Health Connect runs out of patience. On Android 13, where Health Connect is a separate app with a stricter limit, a fresh install could show "no data" on every tile and a toast asking to wait a minute, forever; the app now spaces its calls, needs far fewer of them, counts down in a banner and asks again for the missing tiles by itself. Sync with another phone gains an Overwrite existing records option for records Health Connect holds but does not count, the CSV importer reads blood pressure logs and the app's own workout exports, and a Wear OS watch now sends the floors it climbed and a resting heart rate for each night, and rests its heart rate sensor while off the wrist. Every report, crash draft and log the app can hand out holds counts, types and reasons, never your values. Added • Overwrite existing records in a phone-to-phone sync. Health Connect can hold a record and still leave it out of its totals: a record restored from a backup or a phone transfer keeps the app that first wrote it as its source, and when that app is not on the new phone the dashboard reads zero steps while the sync counts the record as already there. A new checkbox on the "What to accept" step, off by default, makes this phone write every record the other phone sends under OpenVitals, which Health Connect does count. The choice is local to the phone that ticks it, a record arriving twice in one session is still written once, and the report says when it was on. • Workouts from a CSV file. The CSV importer recognises the workout export the activity detail screen writes and imports each row as a workout of its own: editable, deletable, and replaced rather than duplicated on a re-import. A file made by hand with the same headers imports the same way, with the date and time settings for local times, so a history rebuilt from other apps' exports comes in one workout a row. Distance, elevation, steps, calories, floors and… |
