About Minigalaxy

Minigalaxy lets you download, install and play your GOG Linux games without getting in your way.

Besides all that, it offers the following additional features:

• Select in which language you'd prefer to download your games

• Change where games are installed

• Search your GOG Linux library

• Show all games or just the ones you've installed

• View the error message if a game fails to launch

• Enable displaying the FPS in games

An account on gog.com is required to use this application.

Release notes Minigalaxy version 1.4.2 is now available. For new users, Minigalaxy is a simple GOG client for Linux. Everyone should update to this release, because it addresses a change GOG made in their API which made Minigalaxy unable to load game libraries of users. The download and a breakdown of the changes can be found below.

Changes
• Critical bugfix: Use another API to determine game platform support (thanks to GB609)
• UI improvement: Show games in the library incrementally when starting (thanks to GB609)
• Reduce unnecessary writes to the config file. (thanks to GB609)
• Fix a possible exception during game installation not being handled correctly.
• Logs are now also written to ~/.cache/minigalaxy/minigalaxy.log.
• Ask the user which binary to launch if Minigalaxy is unsure.
• The wine executable can now also be changed before a game is installed (thanks to GB609).
• Resolve deprecation/syntax warnings and quiet test output noise. (thanks to slowsage)
• Switch to using PEP 302 compliant resources, excluding translations. (thanks to EmperorArthur)
• Allow installing Minigalaxy via pipx. (thanks to EmperorArthur)
• Switch debian builds to using pybuild-plugin-pyproject. (thanks to EmperorArthur)
• Set minimum Python version to 3.11. (thanks to EmperorArthur)

As usual, a deb file for installing this release on Debian and Ubuntu can be found below. Packages for most distributions will most likely become available soon. See the website for installation instructions.

Experimental AppImage
This release is also provided as an AppImage. The package is experimental and we would like to ask users for feedback about the AppImage's compatibility (whether it runs or not). Please post any findings or feedback you have here.

Please note that the AppImage only packages the python runtime + python dependencies. Your system still needs valid installations of:
• gtk3
• webkit2 (with api version 4)
• libnotify
