About IdleHarbor

IdleHarbor is a native Windows keep-awake utility with optional mouse movement, power-request modes, activity-aware pausing, lock and disconnect safety, battery protection, active hours, session limits, a notification-area menu, and an emergency stop hotkey. It is user-visible, configurable, and does not require a managed runtime.

Free and open source under GPL-3.0-only. Windows 10 and 11, x64 and ARM64. Native C++20/Win32 — no
.NET, no Electron, no installer required.

What's new

Every field explains itself, twice. A short explanation is printed under each of the eight
settings fields, so the window reads straight through, and all 29 interactive controls — the fields,
their labels, the check boxes, Start, Stop, Save, and the status card — describe themselves in more
detail when you hover them.

The drop-downs work on the first attempt. Clicking a combo box used to scroll the settings body
out from under the pointer, and the field appeared to keep its old value until focus moved
elsewhere. Choosing a profile, motion mode, or keep-awake mode now updates the field immediately.
Dismissing the profile list with Escape, or re-picking the profile already in effect, no longer
overwrites settings you had edited.

Four labels renamed for what they do. "Power request" is now Keep awake, "Motion
multiplier" is now Motion size, "Pause after genuine input" is now Pause after real input,
and the low-battery threshold names its unit. The maximum session duration moved to Safeguards,
where the rest of the settings a profile replaces already live.

Scrolling is smoother too: the body moves as one surface rather than repositioning each control
individually.

Install

Download the archive matching your PC — x64 for most Windows PCs, ARM64 for Windows on Arm —
then unzip and run IdleHarbor.exe. Nothing is installed and no startup entry is created unless you
run install.ps1 yourself.

Upgrading from 0.1.0 keeps your settings: they live outside the program directory.

Verify before you run it

This release is not Authenticode-signed, so Windows will report no publisher. Check the hash and
the build provenance instead:
