Cobra File Defrag 2.1

Cobra File Defrag is a useful utility that performs file as well as disk based defragmentation.
Most defragmentation tools work on an entire disk or individual drives. Cobra File Defrag is different as it allows you, using an Explorer style screen, to see defragmentation of every file folder on each of your disks. Each fragmented file or folder can be individually defragmented, as well as an entire disk.

It will also allow you to defragment what you want file by file or folder by folder rather than being forced to defragment a whole drive as with conventional tools.

Cobra File Defrag employs an innovative technique to reduce future fragmentation by moving file blocks into fragmented free space on the drive. This reduces the chances of new files themselves becoming fragmented and maximises the amount of contiguous free space on the drive.

This utility is useful if you've just installed a game, application, movies, music or photos onto your computer. You can then just choose to defragment the folder where they are located to make sure they are accessed from the disk as fast and smoothly as possible without having to defragment the entire disk.

A command line option allows you to run defragmentation from a command batch or scheduled job. This is particularly useful if specific folders on your disks get regularly fragmented, and you can then schedule a batch job to defragment just these folders without the overhead of defragmenting the entire disk each time.

As hard disk capacities get bigger and bigger and so defragmentation times get longer and longer, this tool becomes ever more useful to cut the time required to defragment your files.
