PST file corruption may occur due to various physical and logical reasons resulting in loss of emails and mailbox items. Microsoft?s Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) that comes pre-installed with MS Outlook can be used to repair the damaged PST file.

PST files act as a repository of MS Outlook and stores all send and received emails, contacts, notes, calendar, appointments, etc. PST files are saved on local computer and thus these files are more vulnerable to corruption.
