Note: The app downloads a 4GB Large Language Model (LLM / brains of the AI) after the it starts for the first time. This is only needed once. This technology is VERY new, right now we only support the latest flagship phones (8GB+ RAM). If your phone does not meet the minimum requirements, you may experience degraded performance. We are working hard to bring Layla to more devices.

Release notes New:
- Phonon 31M text-to-speech: a new on-device English voice with a catalogue of voices to choose from. Requires iOS 18 or later (about 137 MB download)
- OpenAI-compatible TTS mini-app: use any server with an audio/speech endpoint, such as OpenAI, Kokoro-FastAPI, openedai-speech, or LocalAI
- AllTalk v2 mini-app: connect Layla to an AllTalk v2 server and pick a voice
- Ban Words mini-app: discourage words and phrases in replies. Works with local GGUF models
- Auto-collect Memories agent: an optional agent that saves what the character wants to remember to Long-term Memory as you chat
- Attach files in chat without the References mini-app, with text extracted from PDF, EPUB, and DOCX
- Chat text size setting
- Always use chat bubbles for your own messages setting
- Reload Chat action in the chat header menu
- Search and bulk delete in Long-term Memory
- "Processing speech..." indicator in voice chat
- Newer versioned chat history exports now import correctly
- JavaScript syntax editing for eval steps in the agent editor

- Tool calls in chat are now grouped and collapsed by default
- Redesigned agent activity, showing each step, progress, input, output, errors, and timing
- More reliable speech recognition that keeps the start of your first word and no longer cuts you off when you pause. Voice Chat asks you to download one extra file for this
- Send voice as audio now works with Sherpa voice chat
- Push to talk now finishes correctly if you release it while your speech is being processed
- Redesigned the text-to-speech settings screen
- SDXL image generation now uses Metal acceleration
- Messages sent before the model has loaded now appear straight away with a Queued badge
- Adding image attachments works the same way in normal chat, the assistant, and group roleplay chat
- Character workspaces are now included in backups and restores
- Screen readers can reach more of the app, including the Apps screen, chat message actions, model selection, and Settin
