About ARK-launcher
ARK-launcher is a modern, lightweight Android home-screen launcher built entirely with Jetpack Compose and Material 3. It is available in English, Finnish, German, Spanish, French, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Turkish, and works as a standalone launcher for anyone.
Features:
* Paged home screen with free icon placement and smooth drag-and-drop — move icons within a page, across pages, and between the home grid and the dock.
* Dock of favourite apps.
* App drawer with universal search: apps, system settings pages, contacts (opt-in), and a calculator / unit converter, plus an optional most-used apps row.
* Home-screen widgets — add, resize, move, reconfigure, and stretch a widget to full width. Collection widgets (chat lists, calendars) scroll in place.
* Built-in widgets: a clock with the date, your next event, the next alarm and optional weather; battery; notifications; and people (conversations grouped by person).
* Folders on the home screen and inside the app drawer.
* Third-party icon packs (ADW/Nova appfilter format) and Material You themed icons.
* Configurable gestures: swipe up for the app drawer, swipe down for notifications, and a configurable left-edge swipe.
* Notification dots / badges, and an optional themed status bar.
* Backup and restore your layout and settings to a file. Widgets are included in backups.
* Double-tap empty home-screen space to lock the screen (opt-in).
* Lock desktop, hide apps, rename apps with custom labels, and a self-contained settings screen.
Network use: the only feature that uses the internet is the optional weather in the clock widget. It needs the location permission and fetches the current weather from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) with your location rounded to about 1 km. The place name comes from the phone's own geocoder; only if you turn on "Place name from the internet" (off by default) and the phone has no geocoder of its own is the name looked up from BigDataCloud (bigdatacloud.com). With the weather turned off in Settings, the app makes no network requests.
Free and open-source under the Apache-2.0 license.

| Release notes | New • Space below the dock (Settings > Dock): lift the dock by up to 48 dp so the thumb reaches it on a tall phone. • A pinned shortcut, such as a browser's web shortcut, can take an icon of its own: hold it still and pick an icon from an icon pack or a picture from the gallery. The pinned icon is back whenever the picked one cannot be loaded. • The r/ArkLauncher community among the feedback links in Settings. Fixed • Gesture navigation: the system's own swipe up from the bottom edge, the one that opens the recent apps, no longer opens the app drawer or a folder's first app underneath the overview, and a drawer drag the system takes over closes again instead of flying open. • The start profile is recorded again over this release's home, drawer and Settings, so the first starts after the update stay smooth. Updating keeps your layout and settings. SHA-256 of ARK-launcher-1.0.2.apk: 827ec514635b1b175bee08235c9e5f7b3a73cec20d71773e0860b15c73e9001e |
